The LMA™ airway Cuff-Deflator, a dedicated deflation device, is recommended to help obtain complete deflation for LMA™ airways (exception: the LMA ProSeal™ has a specially designed Cuff-Deflator as seen elsewhere).
- A completely deflated, smooth leading edge facilitates insertion and avoids deflection of the epiglottis or entry of the tip into the glottis.
- The Cuff-Deflator also is an important tool to assure all air is removed from the LMA™ airway prior to autoclaving to prevent rupture or herniation.
- Reusable and autoclavable.
